Marta Esteves
RESEARCH ASSISTANT
My primary passion within Psychology has always been (and remains) Clinical Psychology – a captivating field dedicated to unraveling the intricate complexity of individual narratives. This understanding not only sheds light on a person’s inner workings, but also empowers them to reclaim agency over their own life.
This passion led me to pursue an Integrated Master’s degree in Clinical and Health Psychology at Faculdade de Psicologia ULisboa, which I completed in 2021. Currently, I work as a licensed Clinical Psychologist (license nº 27688), dedicated to an integrative therapeutic practice grounded in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) models.
Over the past two years I have bridged my clinical work with community research and social performance in mining projects. This role involved engaging with vulnerable communities in the context of in-depth social impact assessments. These dual practices – Clinical and Social Psychology – have taught me two vital lessons: (1) the complexity of human nature, and (2) the importance of grounding good practice in rigorous research.
These insights deepened my curiosity on the interplay between human cognition and its reciprocal influence on emotional experience. My primary research interest lies in human memory, and I am currently developing my research on Memory Bias in Clinical Populations, under the supervision of Professor Ana Raposo. I’m also a research assistant in the “Personal memory, shared memory, and future thinking on the 50th anniversary of 25 April (50A25A)” project.
Outside of my professional passions, I have an enduring love for cinema, the comfort of a good cup of tea, and meaningful connections with those around me.
