I joined the Memory and Language Team as a Psychology Master’s Student in 2019. During my Master’s project, which was under the supervision of Professor Tânia Fernandes, I studied how learning to read impacts early visual processes. After this initial research experience, I worked as a research assistant in the project VOrtEx: Visual word recognition and Orthographic processing: Experiments and contributions from cognitive psychology, neurosciences, and computational modeling. My contribution to this project allowed me to further study how the mind and brain accommodate literacy, a cultural experience. After this, it became clear to me that my main research interest was to understand how cognitive and neural systems adapt to new cultural abilities. I am now beginning a PhD in the Cognitive Sciences Program of the University of Lisbon, under the supervision of Professor Tânia Fernandes and Researcher Susana Araújo.
In my free time, I like to explore different environments (one of my favourites is the beach during the night). I also like to watch stage performances (such as live concerts and comedy acts) and play strategy games.
