phd student
In 2004, I started my academic path in Universidade do Algarve, where I concluded my degree in Clinical Psychology and a few years later my master’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuropsychology. My enthusiasm for experimental work was clear from my first years of college and became stronger when I was afforded a research scholarship, in 2018, by the Centre for Biomedical Research (CBMR) at Universidade do Algarve, and start collaborating with the Cognitive Neuroscience Group in research projects related to reading and writing. I have a particular interest in the study of orthographic processing and spelling ability, and more broadly, in investigating the cognitive processes involved in written and oral language.
Currently, I am a PhD student in Universidade do Algarve, supervised by Dr Luís Faísca (Universidade do Algarve) and Dr Susana Araújo (Universidade de Lisboa). My PhD project aims to study what drives accurate spelling and how do we acquire good orthographic representations, a topic that, when compared to reading, is being more neglected and less understood.
In my free time I like to engage in physical activities, such as running and walking. I’m also very passionate about cinema.
