One year of genocide

One year of genocide

For a full year, Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, destroying close to 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure and murdering over 41 000 people – 186 000 deaths according to a study published by the Lancet in early July. For a full year, Israel refuses to abide by the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to take provisional measures to prevent the crime of genocide. Israel has also refused to abide by UN resolutions. The EU, US and UK, with profound hypocrisy and complicity, keep supporting Israel and its war crimes.

For a full year, Palestinians have been showing us “a degree of strength and of basic ability for humans to remain human in the direst of circumstances”. For a full year, university students have been at the forefront of the Pro-Palestinian protests and people worldwide have been rallying together to demand justice for Gaza and freedom for Palestine.

Israel’s occupation of Palestine is ongoing for 76 years. Decades of oppression, apartheid, mass displacement and dispossession of Palestinians. And, like before, it is now spreading to Lebanon.

We stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine and Lebanon, in the refugee camps, in the erased streets of Gaza, in the alleys of Jenin and Ramallah, in the squares of Beirut, in the prisons of Israel, and in universities of Palestine.
