Typicality in the brain during semantic and episodic memory decisions

Emma Delhaye and Ana Raposo, along with Mohamed Bahri (ULiege) and Moreno Coco (Sapienza URome) have published a paper on the neural substrates of processing items that are atypical (penguin) or typical (sparrow) of their category (bird). Using contrast analysis and representational similarity approach in fMRI, the study supports the centrality of the anterior temporal lobe in processing typicality during semantic tasks, while extending it to episodic memory decisions. The findings contribute to elucidate how the organization of semantic memory influences episodic memory mechanisms. Read more here: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuropsychologia.2023.108529
