Carolina Valentim
master student
I’m a very motivated and ambitious Clinical and Experimental Neuropsychology master’s student, based at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisboa (in collaboration with the University of Coimbra and Minho). I’ve nurtured a strong passion and interest for neurodegenerative diseases – namely Alzheimer’s and Vascular dementia.
Currently I’m working at UMC Utrecht (Netherlands) as part of my master’s internship through the ERASMUS+ project and developing my thesis as a collaboration between the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Lisbon (co-supervised by Prof. Ana Raposo) and UMC Utrecht (supervised by Dr. Alberto de Luca). Through this experience I have been consolidating not only a new set of skills and knowledge – particularly in Neuroimaging – but also a new way of thinking, by being engulfed in a new country with a diverse team.
All these ongoing experiences nurture my already large interest for Cognitive Neurosciences and their application in a clinical setting, and hopefully will culminate in the accomplishment of my main wish in research: to make a change in a patient’s life through my work.
