Mariona Pascual Peñas
Postdoctoral researcher
I am a postdoctoral fellow in the “LEMON, LEtter learning through MOtor training: Neurocognitive specialization for the written code investigated with electrophysiological, eye-tracking, and computational tools” project, funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
Before coming to Lisbon, I was a research assistant and assistant professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, for the last 5 years, where I also conducted my Ph.D. in Education, graduating Cum Laude in October 2020. With all my heterogenic academic experience, I have acquired a diverse and multidisciplinary point of view, formed by a solid formation on formal Linguistics, a deep understanding of Neuropsychology and cognition, and a versatile profile of quantitative research experience.
My investigation so far has focused on writing, specifically on the cognitive processes involved in writing. I focused on the struggles that all children can experience independently of a concomitant diagnosis or aetiologies, exploring the best methodology to identify struggles in writing, combined with in-depth research on the writing process development.
In my free time, I like to discover restaurants (as a good millennial I am a foodie), travel, and road trips. I also love dancing, I practice ballet, and I have been in a dance company for the last 8 years.
